The state minister said Bangladesh's tourism industry is open to foreign tourists. Following the directions of the Cabinet Division and the Civil Aviation Authority and the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) prepared by the Bangladesh Tourism Board, foreign tourists will be able to visit the attractions of Bangladesh.
Mahbub Ali added that the infrastructural and operational development and renovation work of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, built by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is underway. Since its inception, the management and service delivery of the corporation has undergone many changes and measures have been taken to modernize its services as per the demand. As a part of this, Bangladesh Tourism Corporation has got its own state-of-the-art tourism building in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka under the direction and sincere desire of the Hon'ble Prime Minister.
The online booking system of the hotels and motels of the corporation has been introduced. Renovation of Hotel Holiday and National Hotel and Tourism Training Institution in Tejgaon, Dhaka is also nearing completion.
Apart from this, hotels, motels, and restaurants are being constructed under Bangladesh Tourism Corporation to provide tourism facilities at Parki in Chittagong, Bagerhat, Shauna in Gazipur, Kazipur in Sirajganj, Lalakhal in Comilla, Natore in Sylhet, Vijaypur in Netrokona, Ghazni in Sherpur and Bardi in Narayanganj.
He thinks that Bangladesh Tourism Board has been working sincerely for the development of the tourism industry in Bangladesh since its establishment. Various reform works are also underway to transform it into a strong organization. Notable among these are the manpower increase activities of the Bangladesh Tourism Board and the initiative to make the Bangladesh Tourism Board Act 2010 up-to-date.
Work is also underway to increase the manpower of the Bangladesh Tourism Board. The Ministry of Public Administration has already approved the creation of 13 new posts. An additional Deputy Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner has been given the responsibility of forming a 'District Tourism Cell' in the office of the Deputy Commissioner in each district.
The state minister on World Tourism Day 2021 said that the untimely death of someone due to an accident in a tourist center hurts us more. In order to prevent accidents in the tourist center, signage is being given by identifying the risky places in the sea, rivers, and haors. Activities are underway to make tourists and local people aware of this issue. The administration, as well as the locals, are being included in the development, conservation, and management of the tourism industry. Tourist police and volunteer teams are being formed and trained to conduct rescue operations in case of an accident. In addition to all this, I would request the tourists to be aware and careful.
Regarding Cox's Bazar, the state minister said an initiative has been taken to set up a tourist information center in the beach area of Cox's Bazar to provide assistance and other facilities to tourists with various data. The Tourist Information Center will have lockers for keeping valuables of tourists. In addition, infrastructural development will be done for toilets, baths, and changing rooms.
A structural plan will be drawn up for the development of tourism in the area around the 60-kilometer Marine Drive. Action will be taken accordingly.
The latest state minister said public awareness programs have been launched to make tourists aware of the environment, environment and biodiversity protection, and sustainable tourism development. Besides, an action plan is also being prepared. Besides, volunteer teams have been formed in the tourist spots.
